My new app

  Sep 10, 2002

I started building for the web in 1995, almost directly after having acquainted myself with it. If I remember correctly, I used Homesite and Photoshop from the very get-go, with only a couple of very brief glances at other tools such as EditPad, HTMLPad and Dreamweaver.

I never learned to appreciate neither Dreamweaver nor Dreamweaver Ultradev. Coding by mouse is a) a pain and b) takes as long, or even longer, than doing it the traditional way by keyboard.

I've just started using the latest Macromedia/Allaire tool Dreamweaver MX in favor of the old trusty Homesite series. From what I understand, Dreamweaver MX is in fact a merger of the technologies and concepts that made Dreamweaver and Homesite great applications. Unlike the earlier versions of Dreamweaver it isn't Dreamweaver-ish, it's Homesite-ish, no wonder I love it.

I used to have Homesite for coding and an ftp-client called FlashFXP for uploading my local files to the server. Now I use Dreamweaver MX for both and wouldn't go back to my old mind-numbing procedure for any reason short of that to save my life. I can't think of any reason why going back would save my life, but I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope to not get into any lethal circumstances, just in case.

Tangentially, I've updated my stylesheets a bit and I'm working on a slightly bigger site-update. Nothing fancy though, basically just a change of colors, as well as the masthead imagery.
