Indecisive

  Sep 12, 2002

As I mentioned earlier, I've been planning a slightly bigger site update. New colors, new masthead imagery, but nothing more drastic than that. Oh, possibly a new name. I don't really have a name for it now, people seems to refer to it as "jogin.com".

new design, or not

Anyway, the design and name you see on the right is what I've managed to come up with so far. It seems I've been changing it back and forth so many times now I'm not sure what to think anymore.

So, who better to ask than you? Click the thumbnail for a larger image as well as a small poll in which you can vote for it as "Great", "Good", "Ok" or "Bad".
Feel free to leave a comment if you like, too.

  1. It looks ok. But if you decide to use it you should consider losing the bucket of apples (or whatever it is)in the bottom. It looks odd to combine a fiery dragon with a basket of fruit...

  2. Thanks :)
Btw, what do you think fiery dragons eat, anyway?

  3. talisyn: yes! I've been trying to convince him to dump that fruitbasket as well.. but he's grown quite font of it I'm afraid. But he'll come around... :)

tomas: according to george r.r martin they eat meat, but never raw. *grin* so, why not put an image of a man slowly being roasted on a grill?

  4. It looks like it's essentially the same as it is now, but on a different color scale. Or are you going to switch fonts as well?

Well, I like the new design and I like the current one as well. Maybe you could use one for even dates and the other one for odd dates? :)

Keep the name jogin.com though. It sticks and makes it easier to remember the URL.

  5. No, no! No silly dragons! Keep the coffee cup.

  6. Everybody: Thanks for the feedback.

Fredrik: I'm not going for a drastic change, I want to have people recognize it as the same as before except for a couple of minor changes.

    I think I'm sticking with just "jogin.com", I think.

I'm pretty much definitely updating the masthead imagery though, it feels misaligned with the rest of the visual structure.

abr: Yes, unfortunatly dragons tend to be a bit of a cliche.

You'll be glad to know I scrapped an earlier draft featuring red currants upsidedown though.

  7. I like it, makes it look like a "fantasy" site of some sort.

Perhaps a basket full of Knights would do?

  8. Everything that reminds me about The Dragon Waiting (vampires and magicians in 15th century Europe as well as the wonderful prose of John M. Ford) is good so go ahead and change. If needed, change the apples in the basket to heads in a basket but it's not necessary.

  9. I like the coffee cup but if you are going to use the dragon, can I recommend you use a text color that is more of a contrast to the dragon underneath? I had a hard time reading it.
