Die, blue feather!
Sep 15, 2002
I'm so tired of people who try to humanize animals because they're cute.
There is this one guy, let's call him "P", for fun. P argues that it is wrong, selfish, and whatever, to castrate and/or sterilize cats. Furthermore, P argues that because nobody has been "inside the mind" of a cat we cannot tell what it can or can't feel about losing its capability to reproduce.
I, quite honestly, cannot comprehend how some people lead themselves to believe that certain pets or animals are humans. Have they not noticed that their favourite pet or animal is incapable of crafting, or even using, tools?
My cat, which I've grown quite fond of, has learnt to use the door handle. Quite impressive, if you ask me. Unfortunately for him, he won't be able to open the door until he manages to unlock it, which isn't going to happen anytime soon.
My cat thinks a blue feather on a string, connected to a plastic stick in my hand, is real fun to chase. When he gets real worked up he makes an aggressive hiss, warning the blue feather that he is, beyond all doubt, a fierce predator who could end the very life of the blue feather right there on the spot, if he manages to catch it.
My cat lost his capability to reproduce a few days ago, and, he is actually not in anguish over this. In fact, within a couple of months he will return to the mental state of a playful kitten, due to the loss of certain hormones and thereby the instincts that drives his "will" to reproduce.
My cat is not human. But, most likely, one of the cutest little furry bastards I'll ever meet.

Humanizing a cat is one thing. Try being around people who humanize salmon. These same people argue that the fish goes through an enormous amount of stress and pain when caught by a sportsfisherman.
