The Devil

  Jul 14, 2003

In his State of the Union address, George W. Bush claimed that Iraq had tried to buy uranium from Africa. Now, CIA Director George Tenet is getting the blame for that. Rather, he's taking the fall for it. The supposed "fault" on George Tenet's part is that he didn't "red flag" the claim in the speech (which someone else wrote for the President), he only issued a re-wording.

CIA's own intelligence was not able to prove the attempted uranium deal with Africa on Iraq's part so they "re-worded" the claim, like so:

"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." George W. Bush

When you're trying to sell a war, that sounds so much better than the whole truth; that CIA's own intelligence concluded that they had "no sound basis for making such a claim" (SunTimes.com)

The lies and the deceit from the most powerful man in the world, the man that the American people elected as their President, makes me physically ill. Not having to suffer the Bush administration's circumventions of the US Constitution makes me feel blessed and fortunate to not live in the US, that I instead live in a country where there is still such a thing as civil liberties.

I'm reading Buzzflash's resume of George W. Bush's accomplishments, and I'm wondering how one man can be so... evil? I'm an outspoken atheist, but the sheer existance of George W. Bush makes me wonder if I'm wrong; maybe there is a God and a Devil after all. It makes perfect sense: George W. Bush is the anti-christ.

God help us.

  3. <patiently>No, David, Bush lost the popular vote, and that was with vote rigging in his favor. His daddy's pet SCJ gave him the presidency.</patiently>

  4. This, in no way, is a defense of President Bush's remarks but Presidential lying has historical precedence.

  5. Jeff: True, true, but according to Buzzflash's resume, he has several history's firsts, too (bad ones).
