I found a pretty cool statistics page via MetaFilter; nationmaster.com.
A few nuggets:
- The US has the most prisoners per capita in the world.
- Cyprus convicts and acquits the most people per capita.
- Malaysia has one jail for every three prisoners(!)
- Sweden does not have crimes but plenty of newspapers and internet users.
- The Maldives have six (6) prisoners. And 775 jails.
A fine blend of conceivables and impossibles.

Let's see.. Australia is, by capita, number one in car theft, burglary and literacy (both female and male); and third on rape, external debt and school life expectancy.
