I've taken up Taekwondo again, like, just over a month ago. It's nice to be back in the gym. I train really hard, twice a week, for two hours at a time. The rest of the week is spent healing internal and external wounds sustained during those training sessions. I'm not even exaggerating. Right now, for instance, I'm just a parrot and a corny accent short of being a pirate; my left leg is so stiff I couldn't kick a football, much less anyone's face.

Training Taekwondo must be the worst possible kind of self-defence, not because it's all flashy kicks and ineffective techniques, as some martial-art-religious fundamentalists would have you believe, but because your body is a fucking wreck and you can't barely move at all for days at a time while you're healing.
I've started looking into nutritional supplements, and bought some. It tastes awful, I'll try a different brand next time. Why do all brands come in just vanilla, chocolate and strawberry though? Where's the imagination people? Did artificial flavoring become a lost art while I wasn't looking? Hey nutritional-supplement-industry-execs, here's a hot tip: orange!
I'm thinking a bit more about what it is that I'm eating, in terms of protein and carbohydrates. But not more than so, my body literally burns fat like hell, so I don't have to bother with that aspect.
I'm not super serious about the nutrition thing though, I'm not going to rearrange my entire life and eat, what, five-six times a day as those nutritionist experts recommend. I'd just like to get the most out of my training, without, you know, getting obsessed about it.

Ah I know how it feels, I train in Ashihara Karate over here in Australia. It's funny being stiff and sore for days and thinking it's possibly in the aim of self defense - so laughable. In my opinion it's a great way to get fit though, it's a fun way.

Cyberhill: Absolutely. "Fun" is an understatement. Even the soreness and the pain is fun, in a weird sort of way.
