Perspective

  Mar 30, 2004

Dan Cederholm appreciates a new feature in Mac OSX 10.3, calls it "another example of the subtle features that Apple builds into their OS". Windows has had it for years, but that doesn't make it less wonderful. Or, perhaps it does?

Spammers

  Mar 30, 2004

For every legitimate e-mail I get, including newsletters, reports and other such automated mailings, I get another twenty consignments of spam, at the very least. Who is sending all of this stuff?

Comments

  Mar 29, 2004

In my opinion, the comments to a given blog entry is often just as interesting to read as the original post itself. Yet, irrespective of how interesting, or big, a discussion evolves around an entry, the discussion is always secondary to the original post in nature...

Beheading

  Mar 24, 2004

Shelley Powers' latest post regarding TypeKey, entitled "TypeKey: Final Act", makes her real motif surprisingly obvious. Shelley knows she often makes asinine and offensive comments in other people's weblogs, and now she's afraid that she won't be able to continue to...

Contemporaries

  Mar 23, 2004

I don't like to write short entries. I usually spend about an hour, often more, on a single entry. I don't have any beef with short entries per se, I like reading them, although less so than long ones, but writing them is definately not for me...

Template Systems

  Mar 19, 2004

When logic (code) and presentation (HTML) is intertwined with eachother, one cannot be changed without (probably) corrupting the other. The result is a hard-to-manage, tiresome-to-change, difficult-to-scale web application.

The solution to this problem is Template Systems. These are supposed to intertwine logic as little as possible with the presentational HTML...

Satire

  Mar 18, 2004

I could just link to this excellent example of lies and denial in the White House as a "contemporary link" in the side bar, but I think it deserves more attention than that...

Languages

  Mar 17, 2004

Due to the delicious Why's Poignant Guide To Ruby, I've been looking at Ruby quite a bit. What I love the most about it is the fact that it's really really object oriented. What I don't like about it is the fact that it isn't Python...

Two and two

  Mar 17, 2004

I find it difficult to convey the utter disgust with which I react to people making assumptions about the Spanish people, the Socialist Party, Spaniards supposedly submitting to terrorism, the party being "soft" on terrorism, etc and so forth...

Dignity

  Mar 11, 2004

It's amazing how some people often like to publically make a complete joke out of themselves, and on a regular basis at that. Dave Winer has an idea; to merge the two XML syndication formats, RSS and Atom, into one format. If you can't beat 'em, join'em, and all that...

Passion

  Mar 08, 2004

I found The Passion of The Christ to be a very well-produced film with excellent acting and direction, an interesting story, but notwithstanding a rather dull experience. That's not to say it's a bad movie, it certainly is not, but it is rather dull. The greatest reason for that is...

Real Proof

  Mar 07, 2004

I've received another e-mail regarding Real Networks, this time from an anonymous individual who used to work as a consultant for them. He/she was a consultant involved in major re-design efforts at Real Networks during 2000, and has some interesting information about the Real Networks management...

Real Reply

  Mar 06, 2004

An internal memo was sent to me by a person who works at RealNetworks. The RealNetworks employee wrote that after "a lot of external and internal complaining", they're finally seeing some progress. He, or she, has some interesting information about the inner workings of Real Networks...
