Archives: April 2004

Late last night, I read about a Gmail security vulnerability which, I think, was the equivalent of having your sense brutally but efficiently slapped into yourself when you're really drunk...

Back on crack

  Apr 23, 2004

Reading the silly things Dave Winer writes is a very complicated experience. First you laugh, sometimes even out loud, despite of the fact that nobody really does that. Unfortunately, you very quickly realize that it's not a joke. Too quickly. You choke on your laugh, taste of vomit ensues, and already it's become a rather disgusting experience...

Using Gmail

  Apr 17, 2004

I found a Yahoo Group via my referrer logs earlier, and since I had to join it to be able to see what they were saying about my previous post, I figured I would. After all, using Gmail, as opposed to Hotmail, I'm not really worried about spam anymore...

Juice

  Apr 15, 2004

Using Gmail for, well, a day now, I've come to appreciate it quite a bit. Comparing it with Hotmail is not very fair. In fact, doing so is sort of an insult to Gmail, as far as I'm concerned, because it's entirely different, and it's on the exact opposite side of the sucking scale...

Clairvoyance

  Apr 11, 2004

Notwithstanding that their intelligence hinted at the fact, I don't fault the Bush administration for not realizing that al Qaeda would attack the US by hijacking one or several airliners...

New phone

  Apr 11, 2004

I hung on to my Nokia 6610 for about one year and three months. My new phone is a Samsung E700. I've personally only had Nokia phones up until now, although I've played with the various phones my girlfriend's had as well. It has a pretty decent built-in camera, too...

New URLs

  Apr 07, 2004

For a while now, I've been thinking about changing my URLs, instead of using the Movable Type id, they ought to use the date and the entry title. I followed some simple guidelines available and it was actually quite painless to do. Some problems remain though...

Wired on Real

  Apr 06, 2004

There's a new article in Wired which is actually a follow-up story to my posts on Real Player and Real Networks earlier. Wired's reporter, Katie Dean, contacted me shortly after I had published my posts, we did an interview and I got her in touch with my sources...

Humor

  Apr 06, 2004

I suggest that, for the sake of clarity, written accounts of President Bush's statements ought to also account for Bush's humorous little jests. Because, quite frankly, they don't translate very well to text, especially not in official statements which one might expect a little more seriousness from...

Privacy

  Apr 04, 2004

Some recent articles have said that it would be "creepy" to have ads served on matters related to the e-mail you're reading from a friend (although I personally don't see why), but articles regarding Gmail's potential abuse of one's privacy is first and foremost regarding the fact that "computers will read your e-mail"...
